Charouz-Gravity Racing to defend 2nd position in both driver and team champioships
(23.06.2010)
The inaugural AutoGP season continues this weekend with third round at Spa-Francorchamps. The Charouz-Gravity Racing Team will try to keep momentum from Italy where Adrien Tambay. The young Frenchman moved to the second place in the championship classification thanks to one win and fourth place and also the Charouz-Gravity Racing Team lies second in the team standings. The team would like to keep the momentum in Belgium where will enter three drivers- Frenchman Adrien Tambay, Czech Jan Charouz and Swiss Natacha Gachnang.
Natacha Gachnang should have raced with the team from the very first race but had to skip two round due to broken leg sustained during the qualifying for the opening race of the GT1 World Championship. She is fit again after a quick convalescence and already raced two weeks ago at Le Mans.
Also Jan Charouz raced at Le Mans, it was quick start there of the official Renault F1 test and reserve driver. The Czech finished second in the LMP2 class and seventh overall. He has had busy weeks and between Le Mans and Spa raced at Magny Cours with Formula Renault 3.5. It means three different car in three weeks for him.
Jan Charouz: “I am always looking forward to race at Spa-Francorchamps because it is a great track with unique atmosphere. I already raced there this year in Formula Renault 3.5 and overall I know the track quite well but it is going to be first run with the AutoGP, so tere will be some new things. Anyway, I want to get a top 5 result.”
Adrien Tambay: “I won last round at Imola and moved to the second place in the championship which obviously raised my expectations comparing to the past. Of course, I would love to win again but it depends how quickly we will be able to find a good setup. It is a bit disadvantage that the free practice is just one hour, which is not a lot. However, if everything works well and we are quick straight out of the box then we want to fight at the front. I raced at Spa with Formula BMW and I liked the track. This time I am in much more powerful car, so it is going to be different.”
Natacha Gachnang: “I feel very well know physically and 100% ready to race. I raced several times at Spa with different cars and I must say that really like the track. There are many quick corners and also a lot of passing opportunities. I am looking forward to race AutoGP single-seater. I had a good feeling in testing although it is not easy to drive.”
