Le Mans Series
After the successful debut in Le Mans Series 2007 Charouz Racing System continued in this prestigious series even in 2008. In cooperation with Lola and Aston Martin Charouz Racing System developed brand new prototype Lola B08/60 Coupe - Aston Martin V12. Charouz Racing System´s and the Prodrive-run Aston Martin Racing team took advantage of new LMP regulations for 2008, which allowed the use of a GT1 engine in a prototype chassis.
At the beginning of the 2008 season the team introduced new Lola coupé chassis, fitted with the latest specification Aston Martin six litre V12 unit, which was used in the 2007 GT1 class winning DBR9.
Aston Martin Racing has contracted Tomas Enge, Stefan Mücke and Jan Charouz for the 2008 season. All three have been placed with Charouz Racing Systems and have raced the Michelin-shod Lola/Aston Martin at Le Mans and in the LMS.
The 2008 season started in very special way, when Jan Charouz and Stefan Mucke gained 3rd place at 1000 km at Barcelona, opening race of Le Mans Series 2008. Even better result they achieved in the final round of Le Mans Series at Silverstone. Jan Charouz and Stefan Mucke reached second podium result and the best result of the season – 2nd place overall. Thanks to these results Charouz Racing System achieved fifth place in team´s classification. The same position held Jan Charouz and Stefan Mucke in drivers´classification.
